Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise’s love story

Even when she was a little girl, actress Katie Holmes dreamed of Tom Cruise, and when he really fell in love with her and they got married, she had no idea that her dreams would quickly turn into a nightmare from which it would be difficult to escape.

‘You know how all little girls fantasize about their wedding? I dreamed of marrying Tom Cruise, 'Katie said in a 2004 interview. Just a year later, after breaking off her engagement to actor Chris Klein, her childhood dreams came true. Katie met Tom at an audition for ‘Mission Impossible’ and later said it was love at first sight.

'I knew right away that we would be together, that we would get married,' she said. The couple quickly started a relationship, and they didn't mind the difference of 16 years. That Tom fell in love with Katie was revealed during an interview with Oprah when he got up and started jumping on the couch showing his enthusiasm. Many at the time thought their relationship was a marketing ploy, but this proved inaccurate.

Although she was raised a Catholic, Katie switched to Scientology because of Tom, and he proposed to her after only eight weeks of dating. The proposal took place at the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris where the couple was having dinner, and soon after they announced their engagement. In early October 2005, the couple announced they were expecting a baby, and in 2006 little Suri was born. At that time, a lot was written about how Katie, according to the rules of Scientology, gave birth in complete silence. Namely, according to Scientology practice, the mother and child must be provided with a quieter and more peaceful environment during birth. In an earlier interview, Tom denied that Katie had to remain silent during childbirth.

'It's about respect for the mother, she doesn't have to be quiet. The mother can make as much noise as she has to. But why would other people around her make noise? If everything around is calm and quiet, that's why it's special, ' said Tom.

In November 2006, the couple got married in Italy according to the Scientology rite. The wedding was celebrated at Odescalchi Castle and reportedly they spent three million dollars for the ceremony. Georgio Armani himself designed the two dresses Katie wore that night, and among the guests were many celebrities such as John Travolta, Jennifer Lopez, and Will and Jade Smith, but many noticed that there were very few Katie's friends. Everything seemed ideal until Katie, in 2011, stopped mentioning Tom in interviews. He spoke only the best of her.

'Katie is an extraordinary person. If you only spent five minutes with her, you would see it. Everything she does is full of wonderful creativity. She is fun and charming, I immediately feel better when she enters the room. What we have is something special, 'said Tom in an interview just a month before Katie filed for divorce. The reasons for the divorce are not known, but it is rumored that Katie suspected that Tom wanted to send their daughter to a Scientology organization where the children are forced to work physically. Just 10 days after she filed for divorce, it was agreed that Katie would get full custody of little Suri. The agreement reportedly states that Suri will never join Scientology.
