KEF Introduces 2nd Generation of LSX
KEF introduces the second iteration of the compact and smart speaker system LSX, dubbed "LSX II," with additional connections and sharper resolution.
Following the recent release of the wireless and powered floor standing speaker LS 60, KEF's most compact "Wireless HiFi speaker" now receives an update: the LSX II.
New features can be seen on the connection panel of the speakers designed by industrial designer Michael Young, which now includes HDMI ARC and USB-C in addition to a digital optical and an analog 3.5 mm jack.
There is also a connector for a LAN cable as well as a connecting cable between the two speakers, which may also be operated wirelessly and are said to be multi-room capabilities.
The LSX II offers wireless streaming via AirPlay2, Google Chromecast, Bluetooth, and - likely soon, according to KEF - Roon Ready, in addition to different streaming services - via the "W2 Wireless Platform," which promises outstanding sound quality and usability - and Internet radio.
They are now stated to be able to handle files up to 24bit/384kHz and DSD through network streaming, as well as MQA decoding.
They also include a special version of KEF's famous Uni-Q driver, now in its 11th generation, whose sound is said to be enhanced even further by the "Music Integrity Engine," and is controlled by the KEF Connect app, the latest version of which is said to provide a particularly simple setup as well as plenty of sound customization options.
The KEF LSX II is rumored to be on the market today and will cost roughly $1500. The speakers are available in Mineral White, Lava Red, Carbon Black, and Cobalt Blue finishes, as well as a "Soundwave by Terence Conran Edition" with a distinctive fabric.
