Kendrick Lamar dropped out of the Oscar race
There's still hope for Taylor Swift: 'Everything will be clear on March 12...'
The Oscar nominations announcement is rapidly approaching. We're just a month away from the announcement, but the list of films and creators selected by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will quench our cinephile thirst until then.
The list includes the winners of the following categories: best foreign film, documentary film, sound, best original film score, original song, make-up and hairdo, best visual effects, short feature film, short documentary, and short animated film.
An Argentine, Austrian, Belgian, Cambodian, Danish, French, German, Indian, Irish, Mexican, Moroccan, Pakistani, Polish, South Korean, or Swedish film could win the Oscar for the best international picture.
Categories such as best original film score and best international picture are always popular, but this year the list of contenders contending for the prize for a best short feature film was also keenly awaited, according to Indiewire.
The reason for the increasing interest in this category may be found in the short films "All Too Well: the Short Film" and "We Cry Together" by Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar, respectively.
The list of contenders revealed that the aforementioned content is not contending for the famous trophy, but at least for Swift, the dream is still alive, as her name was shortlisted for the best original song.
Swift might win in a category where a young Billie Eilish prevailed last year with the Bond theme "No Time To Die" from the newest undercover film, "Carolina," the title tune of "Where the Crawdads Sing," an adaption of Delia Owens' novel of the same name (Eilish and her brother Finneasthis year with the song "Nobody Like U" they did not manage to enter the shortlist).
Swift will face stiff competition in the disputed category, including Rihanna ("Lift Me Up" from the movie "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever"), Selena Gomez ("My Mind & Me" from the documentary Apple TV+), The Weeknd ("Nothing Is Lost" from Cameron's project "Avatar: The Way of Water"), and Lady Gaga ("Hold My Hand" from one of the year's biggest hits, the movie "Top Gun") ("New Body Rhumba" from the movie "White Noise").
Even in the category of finest cinema music, there is no scarcity of notable personalities. The nominees may be Swede Ludwig Göransson ("Black Panther: Wakanda Forever") who was honored for his work on the film "Black Panther" or Icelander Hildur Guðnadóttir (for "Women Talking"), who won the Academy Award for music for the film "Joker".
There is also Simon Franglen (for "Avatar: The Way of Water") who "Avatar 2" succeeded the prematurely passed James Horner who collaborated with Cameron on blockbuster films like "Titanic" and "Avatar".
The list also contains music by French composer Alexandre Desplat (from the film "Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio"), who already has two statuettes, and some composers who have previously been nominated for the prestigious honor.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, some of the most talked-about titles, including "Blonde," "Elvis," "The Whale," "The Batman," "Crimes of the Future," and others, are competing for a nomination in the area of best makeup and hairstyles.
On January 24, nominations will be released, and the 95th Academy Awards will be held on March 12.
