The most anticipated movies of 2023 - part two!

It's time for the first list of what awaits us in the new year - part two. So we'll start with our list of the most anticipated movies of 2023. And we have to say that the list looks more than decent, it's not that we have nothing to look forward to, it's just a question of how good those titles will turn out.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, June 9
Director: Steven Caple Jr.
Starring: Ron Perlman, Anthony Ramos, Peter Cullen, Dominique Fishback, Luna Lauren Velez

The seventh film in the popular and not-so-smart franchise takes viewers back to the mid-90s as a pair of archaeologists enter a conflict between different Transformer factions. The film is somewhat based on the Beast Wars storyline with Peter Cullen once again lending his voice to Optimus Prime. Some other old characters like Bumblebee are waiting for us there, but the new story, quite expectedly, also brings us completely new characters like Optimus Primal (the leader of the Maximals), whose voice is lent by Ron Perlman.

The Flash, June 16
Director: Andy Muschietti
Starring: Ezra Miller, Ben Affleck, Sasha Calle, Billy Crudup, Michael Keaton

It looks like we should be ready for DC's The Flash even though we have yet to find out how and if he even fits into the new DCU. Will this be a solo adventure that leads nowhere? Will the movie end up featuring Michael Keaton as Batman, or has he been cut from the plot? The plot is rumored to be inspired by the 2011 Flashpoint comic book special, but we don't know anything officially.

Elemental, June 16
Director: Peter Sohn
Voices for the main characters: Leah Lewis, Mamoudou Athie

"Elemental" is a new Pixar original animated film set in Element City, where the inhabitants of fire, water, earth and air live together. The story introduces Ember, a strong, rash and fiery young woman, whose friendship with a fun, energetic, dashing guy named Wade challenges her beliefs about the world they live in.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, June 30
Director: James Mangold
Starring: Harrison Ford, Antonio Banderas, Mads Mikkelsen, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook

The film is set in the late 1960s, in the middle of the space race, which is connected to Operation Paperclip (the code name for the secret operation by which the US recruited scientists from defeated Nazi Germany), and Indy, once again portrayed by the legendary Harrison Ford, despite his old age he found himself again in the middle of an unexpected adventure.

The Marvels, July 28
Director: Nia DaCosta
Starring: Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Samuel L. Jackson

Brie Larson returns as Carol Danvers, and we will also see Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. The Marvels will also be the film debut of Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel after we had the opportunity to watch her in her series on the Disney plus platform.

Dune: Part Two, November 3
Director: Denis Villeneuve
Starring: Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård

Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, and Zendaya as Chani will have a larger role than in the first film. This information was confirmed by the director. We won't meet some characters from the first film anymore, but that's why we're waiting for a lot of new faces. Thus, in new roles we will see Austin Butler as Feyda-Rautha Harkonnen, Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot Fenring, Christopher Walken as Shaddam IV, the emperor of the known universe and Florence Pugh as his daughter, Princess Irulan. The sequel will explore the mythical journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with the Chani and the Fremen as he seeks revenge against those who destroyed his family.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, November 17
Director: Francis Lawrence
Starring: Rachel Zegler, Hunter Schafer, Tom Blyth, Jason Schwartzman

Franchise veteran Francis Lawrence returned to direct the prequel to the famed Hunger Games based on the Suzanne Collins novel series. The story primarily follows a young Coriolan Snow (originally portrayed by Donald Sutherland) and his involvement in The Hunger Games as a game-changing mentor years before the events of the original film series.

The still-untitled sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife (codenamed Firehouse), December 20
Director: Gil Kenan
Starring: Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon

Although almost nothing is officially known about the sequel, the code name, as well as the ending of the previous film, let us know that the action puts us back in New York, and among other things, the iconic location of the fire station that became famous in the original films of the franchise.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, December 25
Director: James Wan
Starring: Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison

James Wan is back in the director's chair for another adventure with DC's titular superhero, played by Jason Momoa. In the film, we will also see the currently not-so-favorite Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm aka Ocean Master and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta.
