Wham1984 !'s Christmas hit "Last Christmas" peaked at number one on the official singles chart in 2022. Yes, you read that correctly.

The song previously returned to number one two weeks ago (December 16), but it was defeated to a memorable Christmas number one by LadBaby's "Food Aid" last week.

According to the Official Charts Company, "Last Christmas" is now back at number one. It is also the week's best-selling song.

The songs "All I Want For Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey, "Merry Christmas" by Ed Sheeran and Elton John, and "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee were also included in the UK Top 10 list, which is now primarily made of Christmas songs. Stormzy's "Firebabe," which comes in at number five, is the only non-Christmas song in the Top 10.

According to NME, the single "Last Christmas" topped the charts for the first time in early 2021, 36 years after its release.

Christmas carols are often divided, but British couple Mazetti hates Wham! from 1984

So much so that they have already raised over 50,000 dollars to purchase the license rights to entirely erase it. Hana Mazzetti stated that her dislike for music began about fifteen years ago when she worked in an Oxford cafe and her boss played the referenced song nonstop every day.

- The cafe's owner had arranged a celebratory environment and had a CD with multiple 'hits'. He only went to the cafe on occasion, so he didn't completely understand the anguish the rest of the workers felt as 'Last Christmas' played for the 111th time that weekday.

Hana Mazzetti went on to claim that she and her husband Tomas decided to purchase the song's rights after a friend informed them that such a feat was theoretically possible.

Last Christmas, we asked our friends how much they'd be prepared to spend to never hear that song again. It turned out that many of them agreed with the concept, and when the song began playing in November, we remembered it.

Someone then informed us that it is theoretically feasible to purchase the rights to a song and then download it from all streaming sites! We asked widely among our pals, and the word quickly spread. It's entertaining since people either adore or despise the concept! Perhaps next Christmas will be the "Last Christmas."

So far, the Mazettis have raised a little over 55,000 dollars from over 300 friends and acquaintances. Unfortunately for them, they still have millions of dollars to collect because the rights to the song "Last Christmas" are owned by the record firm Warner Chappell Music UK, and they are estimated to be worth 15 to 20 million dollars, according to the Daily Mail.

The Mazettis, on the other hand, has pledged that if they raise the necessary funds, they will transfer the original recordings of the song to a nuclear waste disposal site in Finland, where they will be preserved for at least two million years.
