They met through her brother, and Messi himself admitted that he hung out with him so that he could see Antonela. Although she was a girl, she wrote letters to Messi, but unfortunately, life separated them - Messi's father moved the family to Barcelona because of his son's football career.

On the other hand, leaving everything behind in Rosario was difficult: my friends, the rest of my family, my childhood - we arrived in a country where I had nothing. I started practically from scratch," said Messi in an interview.
When Messi left Antonela continued her life. She enrolled in dental studies and entered into an emotional relationship. Then fate intervened again. A tragedy happened that brought them together - Antonela's best friend died in 2005. She then fell into depression, stopped going to university, and that made Messi come to Argentina, just to support her. Antonela left her boyfriend at the time to give the footballer a chance. "She left me, but at least she didn't leave me for any guy – but for Messi," Antonela's ex-boyfriend told the media.

Their love story got the most beautiful possible epilogue in 2012 when they became parents. They had a son Thiago, and three years later Mateo was born. In 2018, the family received another reinforcement, son Ciro. It is also interesting that Leo and Antonella got married only in 2017, in his native Rosario, Argentina.
Antonella reportedly dislikes media attention. She appeared in public with Leo only in 2008. Although she is hiding from journalists, she reveals details about their private lives on Instagram, where she is followed by over 15 million people.
