Madonna's daughter Lourdes Leon is the new face of Swarovski - but people are not delighted

"What a wonderful news that Madonna's daughter has become the face of the Swarovski company" the media cynically write, adding that nothing describes the inclusion and equality that a luxury brand strives for, like the child of a multimillionaire. Lourdes, a 24-year-old girl, has thus been the target of criticism because she makes abundant use of the fact that she is the daughter of a pop icon, with no special talents to boast about.

Madonna's eldest daughter says that she has never used family ties to progress in life. Lourdes Leon claims that she paid the college tuition herself with the money she earned while modeling, but that many find it hard to believe that she would ever get the opportunity for such jobs if she were not her mother's daughter. There are few women who campaign for Stella McCartney or Marc Jacobs, or are muses for the Jean Paul Gauthier collection, as was the case with Lourdes.

Now, when the engagement as the face of the new Swarovski line followed, which was announced as a "platform for all people regardless of cultural and sexual orientation", this sounded like hypocrisy to many due to obvious nepotism.

"People think that I am an untalented child of a rich man who was served everything on a plate, but I am not", she once said in comments that she was riding to the glory of her mother. She added that she lives in Bushwick, a part of Brooklyn where Hispanics used to live, and many just laughed at that, commenting that probably the worst thing that can happen to someone in life is to live in New York.

The fact that she advertises jewelry with zircons and diamonds or bags worth $1,000, which are hardly available to an average girl, does not help her image, either.

The truth, however, is probably somewhere in between because this girl really didn't sit idly by. Lourdes had her own line of make-up as a teenager, and later she had a trip to the world of design with one of her fashion collections. However, it did not prove to be extremely successful. She was also on the cover of the September issue of Vogue with several other models, including some of the biggest stars on the catwalk - Bella Hadid, Kaia Gerber, and Anok Yai.

Many also call her an activist, although she is actually only known for not shaving her armpits, thus supporting women's right to choose.
It is possible that Lourdes does not insist on her origin and does not use her mother's name to open some doors for herself. But it's not like he has to mention anything to anyone. Everyone already knows who she is.

Many say, including the British columnist Jen Moore, that the example of Lourdes shows the essence of nepotism in the world of celebrities - a lucrative thing to the detriment of real talents and "ordinary" people who without connections can not even see the world of fame and fortune. On the other hand, Lourdes is not the only SAD (Sons And Daughters of famous people) that has succeeded on the basis of known origins. Look at Mick Jagger's children, Beckham's sons, the children of local famous faces ... Although, let's not lie, who wouldn't take the opportunity and enjoy life at the expense of famous parents.
