Meghan Markle's father begged his daughter to let him see his grandchildren through the American media on Tuesday. Thomas Markle said on ITV's "Good Morning Britain" program that his daughter and he were "at a time when we should both grow up, talk, reconcile for the sake of children".
“This is ridiculous, almost four years, it’s crazy,” he said.
He has yet to meet grandson Archie, born in 2019, or granddaughter Lilibet, who was born in June. “My message to the kids is that they have two families who love them,” he said.
"Their great-grandmother is the Queen of England and I think it's important for them to know that they have two families and that they will eventually grow up and want to know more about them."
The 77-year-old former lighting director who won an Emmy was interviewed from his home in Mexico. He claims that Meghan, who became the Duchess of Sussex after marrying Prince Harry, wanted to stop talking to her half-sister and half-brother but that he didn't want to.
"She's never been like that before. And since she's with Harry, she changed," he added.
Thomas divorced Meghan's mother Doria Ragland when the Duchess was young. Ragland was at her daughter's wedding at Windsor Castle and had tea with Queen Elizabeth II.
