New ideas: Make your Yard look better

Consider these exterior upgrades to breathe new life into your garden during the upcoming summer months. Adding color, improving the overall ambiance and creating a useful space that will make it easier for you to stay in nature even in the hottest weather - this is what is required and what experts in the design of open spaces warn us about every day.

But what about the budget? We are all looking for cheaper and faster ways to make the most of both homes and gardens. Fortunately, whether you have a large yard or a small balcony, there are many ways to create a beautiful and useful outdoor space. We believe that the tips and ideas that we share with you in the rest of the text will help you to stimulate your imagination and creativity, that is, to come up with a much better appearance of the yard for yourself (and your family) without any trouble!

GIVE A CHANCE TO THE "UNSIGHTLY" CORNERS OF THE YARD OR GARDEN

Often neglected so-called side yards can, with a little imagination, become thoughtfully planted zones, or much more dynamic places for outdoor living. The once cold concrete and walls here become the definition of summer vacation, and everything is associated with the beach and relaxation.

TRY A MAT OUTDOORS

This is something that most of us shy away from (because, geez, how do you put a rug or rug on a patio?) but it can do a great job for the overall design of your exterior. If you are looking for something that will immediately "raise" the atmosphere on your lonely or somewhat gloomy balcony or terrace - roll out the mat and you're done! An adequate geometric pattern combined with a sumptuous collection of potted plants and light furniture will do wonders, just make sure the rugs are made of the most durable material possible - like polypropylene.

ADD COLOR TO YOUR POTS

It is not too late to buy and plant some beautiful flowers in small (or large) pots of different colors and shapes. Nurseries will have many summer flowers to choose from, such as dahlias, lavender, carnations, petunias, geraniums or salvia. Try mixing flowering plants with ornamental grasses for a meadow-like look, or combine evergreen shrubs such as boxwood or linden for a design with a long-lasting structure.

RE-EVALUATE THE ORIGINAL SETTING OF THE YARD

Take a moment to critically evaluate whether your current outdoor furniture arrangement best suits your needs. Could you open up the terrace space by investing in an L-shaped sofa, for example, instead of chairs haphazardly strewn about? Could you benefit from more shade in the afternoon or a heat source in the evening? If you have a larger terrace, would it make sense to define areas based on use, such as a separate living room from an outdoor dining area?

LIGHTING IS A CHEAP BUT POWERFUL TRICK ON SUMMER NIGHTS

We've said it before and we'll say it again: it's hard to beat those famous cafe-style lights for their ability to instantly transform an outdoor space. If you have a shady porch, terrace or balcony that could somewhat improve the ambiance of the entire property, install some good lighting (LED bulbs or famous cafe pendant lights) overhead and watch the real magic begin. Look for so-called commercial outdoor cafe lights — these will last for years and hold up to exposure and moisture much better than cheaper options.
