They make tons of money revenue from merchandise too. Just SpongeBob related merchandise generated over $13 billion as of 2019. It is very difficult not to buy Patrick or SpongeBob, they are simply too adorable

As part of his ongoing efforts to enhance the streamer, the executive, who also serves as CEO of Paramount Pictures and chief content officer of kids and family for Paramount+, used his time at the service's investor presentation on Tuesday to announce the extension of Nickelodeon's top properties.

SpongeBob SquarePants is already a mainstay on Paramount+. Thanks to spinoffs like Kamp Koral and the linear Patrick Star Show, is getting three new animated films. The new movies are based on the show's original characters. The first of these will be released in 2023. The fourth film in the SpongeBob franchise is presently under preparation for a theatrical release. Sponge on the Run was relocated to Paramount+ exclusively. (It was not immediately possible to obtain additional information about the four new initiatives.)

If you didn’t know, SpongeBob SquarePants is a Nickelodeon animated comedy television series developed by Stephen Hillenburg. Steven is a marine science educator and animator. Three SpongeBob feature films have been released by Paramount. The first of them was released in 2004. It has grossed about $471 million worldwide. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water was released in 2015. It was the highest-earning instalment, grossing over $325 million worldwide.

However, due to the epidemic, Paramount was forced to postpone the release of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run in the United States till 2020. In August of that year, the sequel was released in Canadian theatres, grossing $4.8 million, while in the United States, the picture served as the branded launch for Paramount+ in 2021. Except for China, the film's foreign rights were sold to Netflix.
