Legendary former footballer David Beckham is celebrating his 47th birthday today.
David Beckham knew from a young age that he wanted to be a footballer, and today he is celebrating his 47th birthday as one of the football legends. He is the only son in the family but he has a younger and older sister. From his parents, David inherited his love for the English football club Manchester United, and soon football became his greatest passion.
When he was a little boy, his father would make balls out of socks that David would kick around the house for hours, and he soon realized that his son was a natural talent. Until the age of four, he spent hours and hours on a nearby playground.
In an interview in 2007, he revealed that whenever teachers at school asked what he wanted to be when he grew up, he replied - a football player. 'They would then say - no, what you really want to do for your job - but that was the only thing I always wanted to do ,' he said.
At the age of seven, his parents sent him to Manchester United Camp for Youth, and he was soon spotted by Manchester Scouts. As a 16-year-old he was coached in Manchester and two years later was officially part of the club. David has always been very close with his parents. His father David Edward Beckham, known by the nickname Ted, worked as a home appliance repairman and moved away from his son after the divorce from David’s mother. After 33 years, they decided that everyone should go their own way, and David's father never told him the reason why he left his ex-wife.
When David moved from Manchester to Real Madrid, his father, as a passionate Manchester fan, called it a betrayal. David's father died of a heart attack at the age of 59. With his mother Sandra, the footballer had no turbulence. She regularly looked after the four children David has with former spice Victoria Beckham.
Victoria met David back in 1999 at a Manchester United game. Four years later, he proposed to her, and the following year they had their first child, a son, Brooklyn, whom they recently married to the famous Nicola Peltz.
David's marriage to Victoria soared him to the stars and opened up a world he had never dreamed he would enter. By entering that world, he could not avoid scandals. Since 2002, several women have claimed to be his mistresses, and Victoria herself has spoken out about one incident.
