The series "Daredevil: Born Again" got a new showrunner and director!

Marvel's "Daredevil: Born Again" has a new creative team. It was recently revealed that from now on the new showrunner is Dario Scardapane (The Punisher, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan) and that Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Moon Knight, Loki) are joining the list of directors, that is, they will direct the remaining episodes of the season.

Earlier, it was announced that "Daredevil: Born Again" is undergoing a “significant creative reboot” following production disruptions caused by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

What is the reason for this decision?

When Marvel's bosses reviewed the material that had been shot up until that point, they decided that it is best to go in a new direction. Head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman were removed from the project along with the show's directors. You're probably wondering what exactly led to that decision. Well, the first reason was that Corman and Ord seem to have shot the series as a courtroom drama that bears almost no resemblance to the action-and-violence Netflix version. And Cox didn't even appear in costume until the fourth episode. Although Marvel initially approved such a concept, apparently after what they saw, they decided to reconsider that decision and change the direction of the series.

Marvel will keep some scenes and episodes that are already filmed, but they will also add new serialized elements to them. Scardapane will write new episodes and new scenes, which he will combine with a certain amount of material recorded so far. Benson and Moorhead will direct new episodes to bring the first season to an end, which will probably remain at the initially envisioned 18 episodes, of which less than half the season had been filmed before this creative change. Corman and Ord will serve as executive producers.

After "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" and "Secret Invasion" disappointed critics and audiences, Marvel decided to turn to a more traditional approach to filming. “We're trying to blend Marvel culture with traditional television culture. It all comes down to, 'How can we tell stories on television that honor what's so good about the source material?'” – said Brad Winderbaum, Marvel's head of streaming, television, and animation.

Charlie Cox returns as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil, while Vincent D'Onofrio reprises his role as Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk. And again in the series, we will see Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle aka The Punisher. Sandrine Holt will portray Vanessa Fisk, previously portrayed by Ayelet Zurer. Other roles include Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Nikki M. James, Michael Gaston, Arty Froushan, and Harris Yulin.

While the show didn't have an official premiere date, before the strikes and before this creative reboot, it was expected to premiere in the spring of 2024 and now, because of the new situation it is speculated that will be January 2025 at the earliest.
