‘The Whale’ first look: Brendan Fraser's transformation
In this adaptation of Samuel D. Hunter's stage play, Fraser portrays Charlie.
Actor Brendan Fraser, who gained popularity thanks to the adventure trilogy "The Mummy", has not played a role worthy of attention for years, but now, judging by his new film, that will change.
The big return of one of the biggest Hollywood stars of the nineties will take place in the drama called "The Whale" by the famous director Darren Aronofsky, which will have its world premiere at this year's Venice Film Festival, which takes place from August 31 to September 10, writes Page Six.
All this might not have been so spectacular if the first photo from this film had not recently appeared, in which Brendan Fraser looks shocking. The famous actor transformed himself for the role into a man weighing an incredible 270 kilograms.
In this adaptation of Samuel D. Hunter's stage play of the same name, Fraser portrays Charlie, a withdrawn middle-aged professor who tries to reconnect with his seventeen-year-old daughter. The two lost touch after Charlie left his family and went to live with his lover. Because of the guilt of everything he had done, he began to overeat, according to the NY Post.

“It will be a film like you have never seen before. This role is very different from anything I have played before. I don't want to be falsely modest, but I think the film will leave a great impression on people” - the actor said for the Unilad website.
Fraser has described this movie as something we haven’t seen before. “The costume and wardrobe was extensive and cumbersome. This is certainly far removed from anything I’ve ever done but not to be coy…I do know it’s gonna make a lasting impression.”
The Whale is Fraser's first starring role since 2013's movie Breakout which didn’t achieve great success. This achievement is also the first film that Aronofsky made after the not so well received film "Mother!" (2017), although the cast consisted of big stars - Michelle Pfeiffer, Javier Bardem, Jennifer Lawrence, and Ed Harris.
