Unpredictable life story of Laura Prepon

Actress Laura Prepon, who celebrated her 42nd birthday on March 7, is best known for her roles in the series ‘Orange is the New Black’ and ‘Crazy Seventies’. She said she left Scientology five years ago.

'I no longer practice Scientology. Ever since I was a child I have always been open about faith. I was raised in a Catholic and Jewish family. I prayed in churches, meditated in temples, and I was also interested in Chinese traditional medicine, ' she said in an interview last year.

The actress had a son in 2017 and she married her partner the following year. She gave birth to her second child, a daughter, in 2020. She added that she and her husband Ben Foster never practiced Scientology but meditation.

Two years ago, she also spoke openly about her fight against bulimia. 'My mother taught me about bulimia. It all started when I was 15 and lasted until my late twenties. I always saw myself as a strong woman, but it became an addiction that completely ‘paralyzed’ me,' she described.

She recalled that with only 15 years and 178 centimeters of high, she went to a fashion agency where she was told she had to lose 11 pounds. 'My mother weighed and weighed me every morning,' said Laura, who soon fell to just 47 kilograms.

'Then she told me I could eat the cake. I knew what she meant. It was a thing we did together, our secret. She contracted bulimia in college and after she lost weight, she met my father. So she equated thinness with success. I think she just wanted to help me, but in her own way, ' the actress recalled.

By the way, the Church of Scientology was founded in 1953 by the American author of science fiction and fantasy stories L. Ron Hubbard, and today it is one of the most controversial religions in the world. Its most famous members are Tom Cruise and John Travolta. In recent years, many celebrities have left the church and after that not very praised about it. Among them are stars Jerry Seinfeld, Nicole Kidman, Demi Moore, and Brad Pitt.
