YOU DIDN'T KNOW THIS ABOUT MEGHAN: 'She ordered me to take the dog, and I did it'

The Duchess of Sussex and the wife of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle turns 40 today.

As the daughter of an African-American woman and a caucasian father, Meghan has struggled all her life with various racist insults, starting from her childhood in California to Hollywood where there was little room for her from the beginning.

Luck smiled at her when she got the role of a lawyer in the popular series ‘Suits’ which was filmed in Canada.

Interestingly, August 4 is an important date for the royal family, especially for Queen Elizabeth II.

Namely, her mother, the late Queen Mother, was born on that day. The Duchess's birthday party is scheduled to take place at her and Harry's lavish home in Santa Barbara.

Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King are expected to be among the guests as they have become very close with the Duchess since she moved to the US. On the occasion of the Duchess's birthday, we researched a few interesting things about her, and some facts really surprised us.

MEGHAN AND HARRY ARE DISTANT RELATIVES

One researcher from the Historical Genealogical Society of New England has discovered that Meghan is a direct descendant of King Edward III of England and that she and Harry are cousins in the 17th generation. Exploring the genealogy of Harry and Meghan, Daily Mail reporters discovered that the two were actually distant relatives - connected through the ancestor of the Queen Mother from the late 15th century. Meghan’s connection to the royal family comes from the ancestor of her father Thomas Markle, an Emmy-winning cameraman. And indeed, their geological origins can be traced all the way back to an Englishman named Ralph Bowes who is Meghan’s ancestor from 15 generations ago.

SHE SPOKE AGAINST SEXISM FOR THE FIRST TIME AT THE AGE OF 11

Markle was furious at a television commercial suggesting that only women do the dishes, so the budding feminist wrote a letter to Procter and Gamble asking them to change the way and policy of advertising, and they accepted it.

SHE HAS AN INCREDIBLY NEAT HANDWRITING, SO SHE EVEN DEALS IN CALIGRAPHY

‘I’ve always loved to write so the letters have curls, I even did wedding invitations for a while because of my beautiful handwriting,’ Meghan said in an interview.

SHE IS A GREAT CHEF

In an interview for Marie Claire, Markle said that Rachel, her alter-ego from the ‘Suits’ series, was created to become a chef thanks to Markle’s obsession with food. 'I like to cook. My character is a chef because they know I’m a chefI'm always looking for amazing new restaurants and new recipes, 'she said, adding that she loves experimenting with food and that she often prepares a new dish for her husband in the kitchen.

SHE IS A GREAT TRAVELER, AND SHE ALWAYS CARRIES TEA TREE OIL WITH HER

The only thing I can’t live without while traveling is a small tank of tea tree oil. It’s not the most glamorous thing, but if you get a cut, a mosquito bite, no matter what it’s about, it’s my little cure. It's cheap, it's small enough to carry and I always carry it with me, 'she revealed.

ELLEN DEGENERES CONVINCED HER TO ADOPT A DOG

Meghan Markle ran into talk show host Ellen DeGeneres at a dog shelter in LA. While playing with one special puppy, the famous hostess entered the room and told her to adopt him. ‘Is that your dog?’ Ellen asked me, and I said, ‘No,’ and she said, ‘You have to take that dog. She told me angrily ‘to which I told her I had to decide, and she told me once more,‘ Save the dog ’, and so I took him home because Ellen told me to.
