YouTube removes the display of the number of dislikes
Regardless of this decision, creators will still be able to see in the YouTube Studio how many people have tagged their dislike video, so they can assess the impact of their content.
YouTube started testing the hiding of the number of dislikes on certain videos back in March, but according to the company's official announcement, they have now decided to extend that decision to the entire platform.
"We are making the number of dislikes private on the whole of YouTube, but the dislike button will not disappear. This change will be gradually introduced today ", they announced from YouTube, emphasizing that the number of dislikes will from now on serve the purposes of private feedback, and not for public shame.
Namely, YouTube states that this change will save creators from "dislike attacks and harassment" and that it will thus promote "respectful interactions between viewers and creators".
“We want to create an inclusive environment full of respect in which creators have the opportunity to succeed and feel safe. This is just one of the many steps we are taking to continue to protect creators from harassment. Our work is not finished and we will continue to invest ", they conclude from YouTube.
Social networks have previously experimented with hiding "ratings" on platforms, so Instagram and Facebook users can remove the display of the number of likes from May, so that, according to the company, they can fully focus on the content they watch.
