Emma Roberts and Garrett Hedlund have called it quits after nearly 3 years being together

Emma Roberts and Garrett Hedlund are ending their relationship, a year after they had their first child together.

"They still share parenthood and are involved in each other's lives because of their son." a source shared exclusively.

The split comes a year after they welcomed their first child together, Rhodes, in December 2020. 

Since they first sparked dating rumors in March 2019, The Country Strong actor,  and the Scream Queens star,  have been exceptionally private about their relationship, a month after Roberts broke off her second engagement to her co-star. American Horror Story , Evan Peters, whom she began dating in 2012. Roberts explained she wanted to keep her private life to herself because she became famous at such a young age.

At the time, a source shared that Hedlund and Roberts had "had a few casual dates" and were "exploring a relationship," yet the two actors were definitely "nothing serious yet."

Although, the stars apparently confirmed their romance in August 2019, five months later,  when they were seen in Los Angeles laughing and holding hands.

However,  the New Year brought challenges. In January 2020, Hedlund was arrested for DUI (Drive Under Influence) and ordered by a judge to seek counseling.

After the actor's arrest, a third source disclosed that the couple was "doing fine" and that their DUI "wasn't something that really threatened a breakup."

In addition, a third source added: "Emma is committed when she is with someone and they are both aware that it will take work."

News broke a few months later that Emma and Garrett  were expecting their first child together, but they weren't the ones to reveal it. Kelly Cunningham,  the actress's mother, was the one who accidentally announced her daughter was pregnant on Instagram, sharing that she was "so excited."

Before Rhodes' birth, a source told us that the couple was “bonding a ton” as they prepared to become a family of three. “Emma and Garrett are getting more and more excited, which is so nice for them,” the insider said in November 2020. “Garrett is really looking forward to becoming a dad and feels as though this is something he needed. He is ready to take on all the daddy duties, and Emma getting pregnant has forced him to become more responsible. He thinks that’s a blessing.”
