New Line Cinema and HBO Max released the futuristic thriller "KIMI". The director of the film is Steven Soderbergh (Ocean's 11, 12 & 13, Erin Brockovich, The Laundromat), and the script is written by David Koepp (Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds).
The title refers to an Alexa/Siri (it is like voice-activated digital assistant/artificial intelligence)but this time it is called KIMI. He hears everything you say the whole time and records everything for Big Brother (like a corporation). Central's character is Angela Childs, an agoraphobe and audio file technician, who hears a murder on a recording she is analyzing. One day while working, Angela receives a recording that appears to capture a violent sexual assault by a man named Brad. With the help of her coworker Darius, she accesses the information of the account holder, a woman named Samantha. Angela was visibly shaken after turning to her colleagues for help. Her employers are against her notifying the authorities, and she realizes that she will have to figure out what exactly happened on her own and to do that she will have to do what she fears the most.
KIMI represents Soderbergh's third collaboration with the HBO Max platform. In 2020, "Let Them All Talk" with Meryl Streep and Lucas Hedge was released on the streaming platform, while last year Soderbergh teamed up with screenwriter Ed Solomon (Men in Black) for the thriller "No Sudden Moves" starring Don Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro and David Harbour."
The main roles in this film are Zoë Kravitz (The Batman), Byron Bowers (No Sudden Move), Jaime Camil (Schmigadoon), Erika Christensen (Traffic), Derek DelGaudio (Derek DelGaudio’s In & Of Itself), Robin Givens (Riverdale), Charles Halford (Logan Lucky), Devin Ratray (Side Effects), Jacob Vargas (The 33) and Rita Wilson (Mamma Mia). "KIMI" came to the HBO Max platform last year.
