Hollywood rebels who sobered up: They said goodbye to the glass

Today they are the leading proponents of alcohol-free living, but only a few years back they had a reputation as "bad guys"

Bradley Cooper

The actor is best known for the "Hangover" trilogy, Bradley Cooper stole the hearts of women around the world with the film he actually directed "A Star Is Born". In this Oscar-winning achievement for best song, Cooper plays alongside Lady Gaga, and we can assume that he drew inspiration from his former habits.

Recall, the former partner of the Russian model Irina Shayk made the decision to stop drinking in 2012 because it seriously damaged his life and career. He recently stated that if he had continued to consume alcohol that would have sabotaged his entire life. The character of Jackson, a stumbled musician who fights alcoholism, brought Bradley many accolades and strengthened his decision never to return to this poisonous substance.

Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's lives have been in the public eye since the beginning of their romance in 2005. Most likely that is why it should come as no surprise that the news of their divorce sold tabloid magazines around the world without any problems. However, the real reason for their divorce is still unknown, but there are indications that one of the causes is the actor's problem with alcohol.

For months, we could read about his fall in the eyes of the American public because, allegedly, at some point, he physically attacked one of their children.

Recall, we got Brad who turned his life around. Not only did he take action in some of the most successful films ("Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", "Ad Astra"), but he also spoke publicly about his struggle with alcoholism. This was followed by sincere gratitude to colleague Bradley Cooper for help, as well as an emotional interview with Christian Amanpour.

Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. is considered one of the most famous former alcoholics in Hollywood. However, his very public battle with this substance ended happily, so the "Iron Man" star has been sober for more than a decade. He managed to save his marriage by making the decision not to give in to his demons anymore.

Colin Farrell

The Irish heartbreaker Colin Farrell is known for his madness in the early 2000s, from a lecherous guy we could often see drinking beer and smoking cigarettes, even during interviews, he has come a long way to a calm father who practices yoga regularly. For this amazing transformation, he can thank his firm decision to eliminate alcohol consumption from his life.

Apparently, no one could have guessed that the Hollywood "bad guy" whose identity was tied to such an image throughout his career, would actually be able to turn the flow of his life. In addition to health benefits, it was obviously a good decision because his career also took an upward trajectory. Finally, perhaps we can forget that glitch in the movie “Alexander the Great”, and enjoy better accomplishments like “In Bruges” and “The Lobster”.

Ben Affleck

The life of the ex-husband of the actress Jennifer Garner went downhill a few years ago. Often published photos by media of him looking tired, and there was no progress in the actor's career. Nowadays, he struggles to stay sober, with his ex-wife helping him all the time. She remained with him during this period, supporting him to cope with this challenge, although they are divorced.

An interview with the legendary Diane Sawyer was recently published, in which Affleck spoke honestly about his alcohol problem for the first time. His career is definitely on the right track because the movie "The Way Back" is coming out soon, in which he plays a stumbled basketball coach. The additional "wind in the back" might be the success of the new film since it already has good reviews.

Russell Brand

If anyone is a "poster boy" of successful rehabilitation, then it is a comedian and actor Russell Brand. Also, he has recently become a writer, considering that in 2017 he published a very successful book "Recovery: Freedom From Our Addictions". In his book, Brand talks about freedom from the addiction of any kind, since he believes that we are all addicted to something.

He has been struggling for years not only with alcohol but also strong drugs as well as sex addiction. He writes truthfully about these issues in his book, hoping that in that way he will succeed in removing the stigma from this topic. He has been completely "clean" for 13 years.
