Courteney Cox: New Insights 'Love Is Precious'
'Love Is Precious,' says Courteney Cox of her eight-year relationship with Johnny McDaid.
"He's just so smart, and I find that really sexy. And then he is gorgeous," Courteney Cox, who is launching her Homecourt home-care product line, spoke out about her boyfriend.
Over the years, Courteney Cox learned a lesson or two about love.
"I've learned you can't take a lot personally," Cox, 57, said. "I used to think, 'Oh well, if you loved me...' It's not really about you. People do things because of their own history and their own past. I had to learn that lesson for sure."
The Scream actress has been dating musician Johnny McDaid, 45, since 2013. They met through common friend Ed Sheeran.
Cox is even more thankful for their longstanding romance after spending time apart during the initial half of the COVID-19 outbreak when McDaid was stuck on lockdown abroad." I've learned that love is precious," she adds. "As I've gotten older, I've realized that."
McDaid is "a great listener. And I've never met someone more patient," Cox says. "He's a great advice-giver. I love his heart, his intentions. His morals. He's extremely talented and obviously musical, but he's a poet and a writer. He's just so smart, and I find that really sexy. And then he is gorgeous."
Is she thinking about getting married again?
"I don't know," Cox adds. "I'm definitely not opposed to it. I just don't think about it."
Cox enjoys being at home with Coco, her 17-year-old daughter she had with her ex-husband David Arquette. The "Friends" star chatted to People magazine about parenthood and her relationship with Coco as she prepares to be an empty-nester.
"I haven't thought about it yet!" the actress said about her daughter leaving home someday. "I haven't even registered that she's not going to be here. But also, she's not here that often—let's be clear. She is out and about. This is not a girl to sit at home, and if she is, she's in her room, door shut."
She also loves spending time with their two dogs, Bear and Lily. Of course, she enjoys her time with McDaid when she isn't working. Aside from Homecourt, she will next star in Starz's upcoming horror-comedy series Shining Vale, which she also produces.
"I like to putter," Cox says. "I like to get things done during the day. And then around 6 o'clock, it's time to relax, whether it's with my close friends who come over or with Johnny. I cook a lot."
The Alabama star also celebrates her Southern roots by hosting monthly Sunday get-togethers for friends at her home. "My family used to go to my grandmother's house — and I have 21 first cousins — every single Sunday at 5 o'clock," she said.
