Horror "M3GAN" is a kind of warning!
Parents often know how to use technology to occupy their children's attention. But is that a good decision?
In addition to being a source of immense happiness, children are also a great liability. They require constant attention, especially when they are small, while they are learning how the world around them works. Even the most organized parents always somehow lack another pair of hands so that what they have planned does not fail. When they cannot rely on grandparents, aunts and uncles, parents often know how to reach for technology in order to occupy their children's attention, even if only for a short time, especially when they are small and short-tempered.
At the beginning of the horror film "M3GAN", we meet a family of three who are going on a trip. The father is behind the wheel of the car, the mother is in the passenger seat, and in the back is their 8-year-old daughter Cady ( Violet McGraw ). Although heavy snow makes it difficult for them to travel, the parents are persistent and do not want to cancel their plans. While they are trying to find their way, Cady is in the backseat playing with a robotic toy that is connected to her mother's tablet. The mother turns around at one point and tells Cady it's time to turn off the tablet. Father doesn't like it because he thinks Cady will become unbearable in that case. An argument started, the parents stop paying attention to the road and their car collided with a plow. Parents die, but Cady survives.
After that Cady was taken into custody by her 30-something aunt Gemma ( Allison Williams ), a roboticist who works for the Funki toy company. Gemma is chasing her career and has neither a husband nor a boyfriend. It is evident that children are not in her plans and that it will be difficult to juggle between taking care of Cady and business obligations. The two have a hard time finding a common language at first. Cady was deeply shaken by the death of her parents. Gemma would love to help her, but she can't really devote herself to her because she has to bring ideas for new toys to her bosses at Funki.
When Cady sees the project Gemma is working on, the M3GAN artificially intelligent human-looking robot toy, the girl tells her aunt that she would like to have such a toy. Seeing that this toy could bring her the career success she desires, but also help with Cady, Gemma finishes it off faster. Cady gets excited about the M3GAN and Gemma decides that the best way to sell the toy is to show the bosses its full potential. Gemma took Cady to the presentation of M3GAN. That scene wowed Gemma's bosses and Funki gave her even more money to perfect the M3GAN.
The film about the dangers of technology was produced by the masters of modern horror films Jason Blum (the Paranormal Activity and Insidious franchises and the films The Invisible Man and Evil Doom) and James Wan (Puzzle of Horror, The Summons and The Malignant).
