Kevin Spacey is the winner of the prestigious award

Despite the serious claims of sexual offenses that have harmed the American Oscar winner's reputation, Spacey has won the prestigious honor.

Two nights ago, the American actor Kevin Spacey was presented with the Stella Della Mole award, which the National Museum of Cinematography in Turin awarded him "in recognition of his aesthetic and authorial contribution to the development of dramatic art through his filmography".

Spacey is the recipient of the prestigious award, despite the controversial accusations of sexual crimes that damaged the reputation of the American Oscar winner.

"I'm certainly blessed and grateful and humbled, and my heart is full, that the Museum of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had the guts to invite me tonight," Spacey said at the award ceremony, Reuters reported.

Spacey is well-known for his work in films such as "Seven", "Los Angeles Confidential", "Guilty Duty", "American Beauty", and the Netflix television series "House of Cards".

He had two Academy Award nominations: for best actor in the film "American Beauty" in 2000 and for best-supporting actor in the film "The Usual Suspects" in 1995.

Kevin Spacey has won numerous international prizes, including the Tony, Grammy, and Golden Globe, but his career was jeopardized a few years ago when over 20 men accused him of sexual harassment.

The Turin newspaper La Stampa issued an editorial titled "Italy, land of absolute indulgence" ahead of the award presentation.

Spacey, 63, appeared in court via video link last week at Southwark Crown Court in London, pleading not guilty to one crime of compelling sexual intercourse without consent, three charges of indecent assault, and three counts of sexual assault.

The allegations are in addition to a previous five-count indictment charging Spacey with sexual misconduct against three men between 2005 and 2013, to which he had pleaded not guilty.

According to the British agency, the court in New York last year rejected a sexual assault claim filed by his colleague Anthony Rapp against the Hollywood actor.
