Michael's astonishing career overshadowed by scandals
Michael Phelps is celebrating his 37th birthday, and he has an enviable swimming career behind him, which he has somewhat overshadowed by scandals.
The most successful Olympian of all time with 28 medals, Michael Phelps, is celebrating his 37th birthday. Many consider him the best swimmer and athlete ever, and he retired in August 2016 after the Rio de Janeiro Olympics. Still, his captivating sports career has been partially overshadowed by scandals.
One of them is threesome sex with stripper Theresa White who in 2009 was happy to share the details of their public encounters. She revealed that she ended her romance with Phelps when she learned that he was seeing multiple women at the same time. Michael also found himself in the middle of a sex scandal with dominatrix Taylor Lianne Chandler who was born as a man. He contacted her after seeing her ad in the newspaper and paid her $ 900 to meet at the hotel. He demanded that Taylor urinate on him.
The 'stain' on his swimming career was also thrown by the 2009 scandal when a video appeared showing Michael using a bong. The American Federation suspended him for three months for drug use, and he later apologized.
Michael's last offense occurred in September 2014 when police arrested him for driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding. He was then suspended by the Swimming Federation for six months and expelled from the championship team. Interestingly, only five months earlier he returned from the retirement he went to in 2012.

In 2016, Michael married model Nicole Johnson (36) with whom he had sons Boomer (6), Beckett (4) and Maverick (2). He is dedicated to his family and often shares photos with his wife and children, emphasizing that ‘the pool is still his happy place’.
Despite all the scandals, he enjoys a great reputation in the sports world, but he also fights depression. In January last year, his wife Nicole spoke about Michael’s mental state.
‘After Vanessa lost Kobe, I looked at Michael every now and then and begged him,‘ Can we try to help you? Because if I lose you, I would not know how to move on. Michael is the best dad and partner a woman can wish for. What I’ve learned all these years is that you can’t overcome that sadness. He can't know when and how bad he will feel, ' she told Today Parents.

And Phelps talked about battling depression. 'Nicole loves me and wants to help me a lot. She wants me to get well. But, on the other hand, she struggles. She also needs support, I know it is very difficult for her ', said the retired swimmer.
By the way, the couple met in 2007 at the ESPY Awards for Sports Achievement. She was working for the ESPN television network. Two years later, they began a relationship.
