Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 and G7: Gaming monitors
The Samsung Odyssey Neo G8, which was previously showcased at CES 2022, has now been shown with complete specifications and is set to be released in June for roughly $1500 USD. There is also the Odyssey Neo G7, which has a 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 165 Hz.
Samsung introduced a huge monitor at CES 2022 earlier this year with the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8. This attribution does not always refer to its screen size, but rather to the resolution to refresh rate ratio.
Because the Neo G8 is one of the first 4K gaming monitors, it should be capable of exceeding 144 Hz. The increase is significant, as the South Koreans offer a refresh rate of 240 Hz.
The Quantum Mini LED panel with a curvature of 1000R is already known. What was missing were the alleged 1,196 backlight zones. The contrast ratio is 1,000,000:1, and there are 4,096 brightness levels to choose from.
There is also a max brightness of 2,000 cd/m2 (often 350 cd/m2) and DisplayHDR 1000 certification. The MPRT reaction time is 1 ms, and AMD's FreeSync and Nvidia's G-Sync technologies are supported.
There are two HDMI 2.1, one DisplayPort 1.4, and two USB 3.0 Type-A connectors on the connecting side. The monitor may also be swiveled, tilted, twisted, and altered in height, according to Samsung.
RGB effects are also available and can be synced with the other peripherals. The Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 will be available in June for $1,499 USD.
In addition to the Neo G8, the Odyssey Neo G7 game monitor from Samsung is likely. The Neo G7 is supposed to have the same resolution, screen size, and panel as the Neo G8, but the refresh rate for the former is "only" set at a maximum of 165 Hz.
The Odyssey Neo G7 is also believed to be less bright than the Neo G8. Again, 350 cd/m2 is usual, but not 2,000, but only 1,000 cd/m2 should be achieved at peak brightness.
Another distinction is the color of the monitor's back, which is black on the Odyssey Neo G7 and white on the Odyssey Neo G8. There is no word on the price or availability of Samsung's Odyssey Neo G7 gaming monitor.
