Samuel and La Tanya’s love story
Spouses Samuel L. Jackson and La Tanya Richardson are inseparable since they met, more than half a century ago, and this year they are celebrating their 42nd wedding anniversary.
They met in college, love flared up at first sight, and this year they are celebrating their 42nd wedding anniversary. In Hollywood, such stories usually only exist on the big screen, but this one is real, and its protagonists are actors Samuel L. Jackson and La Tanya Richardson. They spoke about their private lives and shared their incredible love story.
"At the beginning of our relationship, we concluded that the greatest life achievement we can have is to stay together until the end regardless of the challenges that will follow us along the way. Black families have always been known to be dysfunctional because men in relationships behaved like they wanted to, guided by instincts and passions, and raising children was considered a woman's job, like all household chores. Deep down, we felt it was wrong, because every child needs a family that includes both parents and father and mother, so. We've done everything we can to change that strongly rooted, dominant narrative in our community. The two of us stay together, no matter what, we promised ourselves at the beginning, and when problems and difficulties arise we'll figure out a way to overcome them," says LaTanya Richardson, an actress who has built her career in theater and television.
And the fact that it was not always easy for them is shown by the fact that Samuel L. Jackson became addicted to drugs in the late eighties, and his wife, with whom he had a daughter Zoe, pulled him out of hell of addiction.
When she realized that the devil had taken the joke LaTanya took him to a rehab and rehabilitation clinic, and today Samuel L. Jackson's only vice is golf. In his contract, when he goes to film outside of Los Angeles, there is a clause that producers must give him time to play his favorite sport.
"LaTanya literally saved my life, not just my career. She gave me a hand and gave me the opportunity to be the person I deserve to be, without a master who manages my actions and thoughts," says Samuel L. Jackson, who became famous for his starring role. Spike Lee's 1991 film Jungle Fever.
Today, he is the star of blockbusters such as "Avengers", "Redeemers", "Star Wars" and many others, and meticulous statisticians have calculated that films in which he played major and minor roles at the box office earned $ 18.5 billion, which is why Samuel L. Jackson is considered one of the kings of the box office in Hollywood.
"Business is work, I consider myself lucky to have a job at all. We both grew up in want, we were 'vaccinated' in early childhood against the feelings that fame and money bring," says Samuel L. Jackson.
La Tanya jokes that her husband is a Hollywood anomaly because he takes every role equally seriously and each one is equally dear to him. But he also knows how to enjoy, so he takes a long vacation every summer, so he always takes his wife and daughter with him on a boat trip.
