Summer Game Fest 2022: The opening event

Following the initial glimpse of Sony's State of Play, the first day of Summer Game Fest 2022 presentations officially took place yesterday, one of the biggest and most important events on the video game scene for this summer following the withdrawal of E3. Thus, as in previous years, this event has provided us with a large number of trailers and news as world premieres, centered on both previously announced games as well as some wholly unpublished surprises.

Summer Game Fest 2022: The opening event

However, as Geoff Keighley just stated, yesterday's event left us with somewhat hazy ideas of what we all expected, with far less impact than the last edition. This is not to say that we had an event that lasted nearly three hours of broadcasting on the first day.

With so many videos and previews, many of which are confined to teasers of less than a minute, we decided to produce a concise summary to highlight the most important "World Premiere" announcements of this opening event of Summer Game Fest 2022:

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2

The introduction of a new trailer and gameplay of the long-awaited relaunch of this shooter, which was formally announced a few days ago, was undoubtedly one of the night's biggest news. And because it was one of the most influential games both inside and outside the gaming community, Activision did not want to pass up the opportunity to adapt it to the new generation of consoles and PCs, no less than 13 years after its original release, using the engine from its most recent game, Modern Warfare.

However, the video only shows the single-player campaign and no footage of the online multiplayer modes has been shown. Although the game's training has already been scheduled for October 28, 2022, it is likely that we will see fresh details in the coming months, potentially with a huge announcement reserved for Gamescom 2022.

Street Fighter 6

Capcom appears ready to provide as much prominence to its next iteration of combat as possible, improving on the newest advances and repeating in this Summer Game Fest 2022. And it is not for less, with a game that not only looks spectacular on an aesthetic level but also represents a significant step forward within the franchise, innovating with the addition of a new online mode while proceeding to dive deeper into the origins of its characters, with a cast of new and familiar faces to which a new confirmation is added, with the presence of another great classic: Guile.

The Callisto Protocol

This atmospheric shooter has shocked us once again with a new trailer that merges dramatic sequences and gameplay in an almost indistinguishable fashion, startling us with graphics that surprise us even inside the new generation.

Aliens Dark Descent

Focus Interactive surprises us with this "top-down shooter" that takes set in the dark and atmospheric science-fiction world of the Alien franchise, combining action, RPG, dread, and fury. This title will take us through an immersive adventure in which we will recruit new marines to make the best team, equipping them with new skills, weapons, and armor.

Unfortunately, the clip exhibited at Summer Game Fest 2022 centered solely on a cinematographic presentation, with no details or gameplay shown. And it is that this game is still a little distant in the calendar of impending releases, with an expected release date of next year.

Marvel Midnight Suns

Marvel's turn-based combat game, developed by Firaxis, the makers of legendary titles such as XCOM and Civilization, deviates from the traditional action format of these superheroes. In addition to adding on some information, including the inclusion of heroes and villains like Spider-Man, Venom, and Hulk, one of the biggest surprises was the news of its release date, October 7.
