Scientists have discovered that there is a direct link between stress and oxygen levels and have shown that high levels of toxins in the air lead to stress. Therefore, you can drastically improve your mood and reduce stress. Scientists conducted research on mice and found that the scent of the jasmine plant and jasmine essential oil significantly calmed them down.

Their brain scans showed that the scent of jasmine enhances the effect of a chemical called GABA on nerve cells, triggering rest. According to Professor Hans Hutt, these results published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry can be considered proof of the scientific basis for aromatherapy.

Professor Hutt from the University of Germany stated that their research has revealed a new class of GABA receptor modulators that can be applied parenterally and through the respiratory system, and can be used in sedation.

Scientists have found that jasmine is much more effective than sleeping pills, anti-anxiety drugs, and sedatives because the GABA effect is increased by more than five times.

Scientists from Wheeling Jesuit University, led by Dr. Brian Raudenbush, assistant professor of psychology, found that spraying the scent of jasmine into the room where the participants slept "led to better quality sleep and reduced movement during sleep".

Subjects who breathed jasmine in the air had lower levels of anxiety and energy, and performed faster on cognitive tests, while the level of alertness in the jasmine-scented state was higher during the afternoon hours, which helped students focus on academic work during the day.
