What happened? Adele's Vegas Residency

Last-minute announcement from Adele, her shows at Caesars Palace is cancelled.

"Hi, listen I'm so sorry but my show ain't ready. We tried absolutely everything that we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you but we've been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID. Half my crew, half my team are down with COVID — they still are," she started "I'm so upset, and I'm really embarrassed and so sorry to everyone that's travelled again. I'm really, really sorry, I'm really sorry. We're on it, we're gonna reschedule all of the dates, we're on it right now, and I'm gonna finish my show and I'm gonna get it to where it's supposed to be. I'm so sorry it's been impossible, we've been up against so much, and it just ain't ready. I'm really sorry," Adele said.

After cancelling a series of concerts in Las Vegas, she devastated tens of thousands of fans. Consequently, Adele spoke directly to many of them on tearful FaceTime calls. However, according to sources, the artist is not innocent in the Caesars Palace gigs being cancelled with only 24 hours' notice.

According to sources in Las Vegas, her crew was a "total nightmare" to deal with during the preparation of her three-month residency. According to them, there is now 'friction' between the 33-year-old and her management staff, which is 'increasing the stress level.'

Astonishingly, Adele and her crew demanded to replace the venue's state-of-the-art sound equipment with their own, as well as to have a completely new video system installed.

Previous artists like Madonna, Mariah Carey, and Celine Dion – none of which are regarded as being easygoing – all thought the existing system was acceptable and adequate.

'Apparently, Adele and her team refused to use the house equipment in The Colosseum,' said Vegas journalist Scott Roeben, who broke the news of her residency.

The venue has a giant, high-tech video screen. Despite that, Adele's crew insisted on a completely new system. The team wanted a larger screen installed only inches away, in front of the existing screen.

Such demands not only drive up production costs but, at a time when supplies are disrupted, it's a recipe for disaster – in this case, last-minute delays or cancellations.

"I also hear from a source that Caesars had to replace the cutting edge Meyer sound system and replace it with a different system for her." an insider said.

Fans who had flown to Vegas for the first show were actually contacted by the artist. Adele apologized to her fans for having to postpone her shows. The "Easy on Me" singer said on Thursday that her Weekends with Adele residency in Las Vegas, which was set to begin on Friday at Caesars Palace's Colosseum, will be postponed. On Instagram and via video chat, the singer personally apologized to her fans, FaceTiming directly with ticket holders gathered at the concert site on Friday night.

During the calls, the "Hello" singer assured fans freebies and offered meet-and-greets when her residency returns.

"I'm really sorry for not being there," she said in one conversation, which was published on social media, to four fans who had come to Vegas from New York. On Twitter later that evening, she sent out a message to her fans, thanking them for their patience and understanding. "I have the best fans in the world! Your graciousness and love tonight is overwhelming! Thank you," she said.
