What to expect from the State of Play on June 2

Last Friday, Sony stunned us with the announcement of a new State of Play, its online event for the presentation of news within its PS4 and PS5 console ecosystem, anticipating the coming of "revelations, announcements, and more."

However, because its commemoration will take place next Thursday, June 2, exactly inside the framework of the Summer Game Fest, whispers regarding probable announcements have exploded.

So much so that the company itself, via a tweet by Shuhei Yoshida, has stressed the importance of reading the official announcement carefully, noting that it will be entirely devoted to "some exciting revelations from our external partners (third-party partners), plus a sneak peeks at several games in development for PlayStation VR2 ".

Thus, this State of Play appears to be tied to the recent statement that the new virtual reality system for the PlayStation 5 would come with more than 20 unique titles, some of which we may witness during this event.

Although interest in the huge range of options provided by these third-party titles is surely continuing. Even after removing all titles associated with PlayStation Studios, including some notable releases like God of War Ragnarok, there are still many additional games of great appeal.

Starting with Capcom, the Japanese business is expected to release some Resident Evil Village DLC; however, much more potent are reports that we may get the first gameplay shots of the already advanced Street Fighter 6.

Activision, on the other hand, is expected to be present, with a first look at the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which is said to have a unique mode for PlayStation VR2. Finally, Square Enix, which could finally advance the details about the release date of Final Fantasy XVI, is one of the big expectations for this event.

That being said, despite the numerous possibilities and expectations for this State of Play, we will have to wait until next Thursday.
