BMW presented its first M3 Touring

Nowadays, when most of the efforts of car manufacturers are focused on electrification, frugality and the presentation of various city SUVs, and internal combustion engines and station wagons are slowly dying out - the announcement from BMW came as a real surprise. Namely, they decided to go somewhat "against the current" and stay true to their classic audience, so they released the first station wagon model of the 3 Series in the "stirred" M version.

The new BMW M3 body variant combines a pronounced sporty character, practicality, prominent and recognizable design, and also enviable performance. The first model brings a 6-cylinder M TwinPower Turbo with 510 hp, an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission, all-wheel drive, and the well-known xDrive technology.

The official name of this model is the BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive, and it was revealed to the public for the first time at this year's Festival of Speed in Goodwood. From the outside, this sports wagon features an extravagant appearance, which you cannot mistake for another model, with characteristic oversized "kidneys" on the front fascia, large side air vents, prominent fender arches, and large rear exhaust pipes.

If we look at the performance, the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and up to 200 km/h in 12.9 seconds stand out. The top speed is limited to 250 or 280 km/h in the special M Driver's Package.

The cockpit is modern and in line with today's times, so it is characterized by a large curved screen in front of the driver with clean designer lines of a sporty character. The diagonal of the information screen is 12.9 inches, and the second control screen is 14.9 inches. The seats are available in the classic version or made of carbon fiber, to save weight. The trunk of this athlete can be expanded up to 1,510 liters by folding the seats.

Driver assistance systems include M Traction Control, M Drive Professional, M Drift Analyzer, and M Laptimer – all options intended for sporty driving, with three main operating modes: Road, Sport, or Track (for road, sport, or track). Of course, the M3 Touring also brings all the power of digitization with CarPlay and Android Auto, connectivity to 5G networks, and control via the My BMW application.

The Bavarian company will open orders for the BMW M3 Touring in September, while the start of series production and the full market launch is scheduled for November this year. Production will take place in parallel with the M3 Sedan model at BMW's facilities in Munich.
