Everything we know about "Disney's National Treasure: Edge of History"!

Disney plus ends the year on a high note with the series "Andor", "Willow" and, quite appropriately for the holidays, "The Santa Clauses". Their last major release for this year is the long-awaited return of the popular franchise: "National Treasure: Edge of History".  The series had a neat marketing campaign that engaged fans of the franchise to participate in treasure hunts. But no matter how cleverly designed the campaign is, the question is whether the series itself has anything interesting to offer.

For those who are happy with the new title of the franchise, even in this form, let's summarize what we know. The series tells the story of Jess Valenzuela, a 22-year-old girl whose life is turned upside down when she learns about a lost Pan-American treasure that may be connected to her late father. Like Ben Gates before her, Jess uncovers clues hidden in America's artifacts and landmarks, but in order to find the treasure and uncover the secrets of her family's past, she must outwit a black market antique dealer who lives by his own moral code.

In the main role, we see Lisette Olivera, who is a relatively new name in the film industry. But that's why there's Catherine Zeta-Jones who plays Billie Pearce, an antiquities expert who's willing to risk everything to get her hands on the treasure. In order to draw a parallel with the films, Justin Bartha, Harvey Keitel and Armando Riesco appear in the series and reprise their roles as tech genius Riley Poole, FBI agent Peter Sadusky, and agent Hendricks. It should be noted that they are not part of the main lineup. They are more of a background and a new team that will help Jess to enter the main scene. Namely, the stars are Zuri Reed (Flatbush Misdemeanors) as Tasha, Antonio Cipriano (The Sex Lives of College Girls) as Oren, Jordan Rodrigues (Lady Bird) as Ethan and Jake Austin Walker (Rectify) as Liam, Agent Sadusky's grandson. In the series also stars Lyndon Smith (Parenthood) as FBI agent Ross, a persistent investigator who begins to realize that there is a big conspiracy involved.

Cage is not currently expected to reprise his role on the show, but there are rumors that he could appear in the as-yet-unannounced second season.

"National Treasure: Edge of History" arrives on the Disney Plus platform on December 14, with the first two episodes out of a total of ten. The first episode was directed by Mira Nair (Queen of Katwe) from a script written by Marianne and Cormac Wibberley.
