Faroe Islands-a beautiful, forgotten Viking land

If you want to visit the Faroe Islands one day, be sure that it will be a trip to a time when life was simple, but also a trip that you will surely never forget. Usually, the territories become better known only after gaining independence. And some amazing territories and islands, which are still part of a larger country, often become forgotten. One such example is the Faroe Islands. During the Viking Age, these territories were inhabited by Vikings, along with Greenland and Iceland.

However, unlike Iceland, the Faroe Islands have never become completely independent. Instead, the islands are still, like Greenland, the constituent territory of the Kingdom of Denmark. Anyway, this is an amazing place to visit. A unique and interesting destination waiting to be discovered.

Despite its isolation in the North Atlantic, the Faroe Islands are well connected by regular flights from Copenhagen (Denmark), Paris (France), Reykjavik (Iceland), Edinburgh (Scotland), and Bergen (Norway). From the last three cities, the flight to the island takes only about an hour.

Another option for travelers who have more time and desire for adventure is the ferry. Just keep in mind that ships depart from Denmark and Iceland.

The Faroe Islands are nothing like a common tourist destination. Here, visitors can expect examples of dramatic landscapes and the wild North Atlantic Ocean, all far from the tourist crowds. The environment is peaceful and relaxing. The largest city, as well as the capital, is Torshavn. The town is small but charming, and boasts interesting nightlife. The islands are incredibly green, mountainous and all connected.
