Warner Bros. confirms why Batgirl got cancelled
Although this film was supposed to arrive on HBO Max by the end of this year, it will not be released in cinemas or on streaming services.
Fans of superhero movies and comic adaptations have something to look forward to, as many new series and movies have been announced, but one of them has just been canceled to the surprise of many. It is about the movie Batgirl, with Leslie Grace in the lead role, and J. K. Simmons, Michael Keaton, and Brendan Fraser in supporting roles.
Although this film was supposed to arrive on HBO Max by the end of this year, and there was mention of a theatrical release, it was not mentioned at the recent San Diego Comic-Con, which many people were suspicious of. Studio Warner Bros. Discovery has now announced that this film will not be released in cinemas or on streaming services, despite the budget of 90 million and the fact that it is almost completely finished.
Since Warner Bros. and Discovery merged, there were some changes in the direction and cancellation of certain projects, such as Full Frontal With Samantha Bee, The Last OG, Chad, and The Wonder Twins, and this is the most expensive cancellation so far. At the same time, it was announced that the sequel to the cartoon about Scooby-Doo and the gang, Scoob!: Holiday Haunt, will not see the light of day, despite the cost of 40 million dollars.
Some insiders mention that this studio simply did not see enough cinematic potential in this film and that it is not enough of a spectacle for them, and that they do not want to spend more money that will not be returned.

There are also those insiders who say that the film in its current state was shown to the audience as a test and that the viewers felt that it was simply not good enough. The DC film universe is already quite strange, fragmented and without any long-term plan, so we have several Batmans in circulation, a sequel to Aquaman, in which Ben Affleck should still appear, and the movie The Flash, whose main star Ezra Miller has several incidents behind him and serious allegations, such as one of molestation.
That's why that film is also questionable, even though it was supposed to start a new phase of this universe. The studio said that none of the actors of the film Batgirl are to blame for what is happening and that they want to work with them on future projects, and we have to wait for the films Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Aquaman, and the Lost Kingdom, and news about The Flash.
