Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" that makes it clear that it's trying to follow the template, which even extends to the dragons in the story, who are members of different species.  For now, it seems that the film at least is trying to manage a good balance between the selection of characters and different creatures from the template, and action and humor.

A charming thief and a group of offbeat adventurers undertake an epic heist to recover a lost relic, but things go seriously wrong when they run into the wrong people. "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary RPG to the big screen in a hilarious, action-packed adventure.

The film was directed by Jonathan Goldstein (Game Night) and John Francis Daley (Bones), who are also screenwriters. Executive producers are Denis L. Stewart, Jonathan Goldstein, John Francis Daley, Chris Pine, Zev Foreman and Greg Mooradian.

Starring Chris Pine (Wonder Woman 1984) as the bard Elgin, Michelle Rodriguez (Resident Evil) as Holga, Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) as the wizard Simon, Sophia Lillis (It, It Chapter Two) as the druid Doric, Regé -Jean Page (Bridgerton) as paladin Xenk, Jason Wong (Jarhead 2) as Dralas, Chloe Coleman (Upload), Daisy Head (Shadow and Bone) and Hugh Grant (The Undoing) as antagonist Forge Fletcher.

Recall, Paramount Pictures also released a new video and cool poster for "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves". The video is basically a behind-the-scenes look, but it doesn't reveal a lot of new scenes that we haven't had a chance to see before. In any case, the poster is more interesting if you are a D&D fan.

"Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" hits theaters on March 31. D&D fans have no need to worry about seeing classic D&D spells, tropes, and artifacts. What do you think of the trailer, promising or not?
