"Star Trek: Section 31" is finally in production!

Paramount Plus announced today that "Star Trek: Section 31" has gone into production. The cameras finally rolled, and the always fantastic Michelle Yeoh returned to her role as Philippe Georgiou, first introduced in the first season of "Star Trek: Discovery".

As you probably already know, the "Star Trek: Section 31" project was initially designed as a TV series in 2019, but last year it was announced that instead of a series we would get the so-called film event. The film is produced by CBS Studios in collaboration with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Written by Craig Sweeny (Limitless, Medium), directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi (Star Trek: Discovery, The Man Who Fell to Earth), executive produced by Sweeny, Osunsanmi, Alex Kurtzman, Aaron Baiers, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth and Michelle Yeoh.

According to the announcement, in "Section 31", Philippa Georgiou is tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets, but she must face the sins of her past.
Along with the announcement of the start of production, Paramount Plus also announced a good part of the rest of the cast. As many as seven new names were revealed: Omari Hardwick (Power), Kacey Rohl (Hannibal), Sam Richardson (Ted Lasso), Sven Ruygrok (One Piece), Robert Kazinsky (Pacific Rim), Humberly Gonzalez (Ginny & Georgia) and James Hiroyuki Liao (Barry).

Unfortunately, the official statement from Paramount did not give any details about the characters that will be portrayed by the new actor names.
The past few months have seen quite a bit of news about Star Trek-related projects. Luckily, both series got an official renewal for the new season. Fans can also look forward to the new spin-off series "Star Trek: Starfleet Academy", which also begins filming this year. But before the new seasons of "Strange New Worlds" and "Lower Decks" arrive, and before the arrival of the "Starfleet Academy" series, this April Discovery takes us on the last adventures with the fifth season, and sometime in the rest of the year, the second season of the excellent animated series "Prodigy" will arrive on Netflix .

NEW: "Severance" is back in production with Season 2!
