See Sofía Vergara's Transformation into 'Griselda'

Sofia Vergara is ready to change the criminal world of Miami in the new trailer for the Netflix series "Griselda". She is the woman who created one of the most lucrative drug cartels in history. Based on the story of the rise and fall of Griselda Blanco, the series will deliver a tense, action-packed story full of twists and surprises in six episodes.

The world was not prepared for Griselda's ability to manage a drug smuggling network so powerful that she attracted the attention of the competition around her. When her drug empire got too big, her competition decided it was time to take action against her. The series, created by writer/producer Eric Newman and director Andre Bayes, follows Blanco as she builds one of the most profitable drug cartels in history while raising her three sons.

She ran a notoriously ruthless and violent cocaine trade in New York and Miami in the 1970s and 1980s after emigrating from Colombia, before being arrested in 1985. Blanco was the first female criminal that become a billionaire before she was murdered in Colombia at the age of 69 in 2012.

The new trailer introduces us to one of the biggest guest roles in the series, revealing the first look at the character Karol G in the upcoming series. The Colombian singer won four Latin Grammys and earned two nominations for the American Grammys, and she decided to show her acting skills in this series. Her character will be closely related to the story of Griselda, where a local war is being prepared to control the territory. No one will escape the consequences of selling drugs on a large scale.

As we mentioned, behind the series is Eric Newman, the showrunner of the successful drug stories Narcos and Narcos: Mexico. Andres Báiz holds the director's baton for all six episodes.

In addition to Vergara, who is also the executive producer of the series, the cast includes Alberto Guevara, Vanessa Ferlito, Alberto Aman, Christian Tappan, Diego Trujillo, Paulina Davila, Gabriel Sloyer, Juliana Ayden Martinez, Martin Rodriguez and Jose Zuniga.

The premiere of the Griselda series on Netflix is ​​expected on January 25, 2024.
