Amber’s sister: 'I begged her not to marry him'
As Amber Heard fights with her ex-husband Johnny Depp in a $ 50 million defamation lawsuit, we recalled how her sister Whitney Heard expressed fear of marrying an actor.
The trial of the year began because of the controversial Amber Heard column in which she did not name the actor she is talking about, but Johnny Depp's lawyers said she falsely implied that he physically and sexually abused her during the marriage. The former couple married in 2015, three years after they started dating. During Johnny’s defamation lawsuit against The Sun newspaper, Sister Amber Heard testified and then claimed to have ‘begged’ her sister not to marry Depp.
Whitney Heard then said she liked the actor at first because he seemed ‘very cute’, but after Amber told her about their ‘big quarrels’, she became concerned.
She also claimed that she became close to the actor and that they were like 'brother and sister', and he called her sister. But Whitney also stated that her sister’s relationship with the Depp was really turbulent from the start.
She said: 'At first I was not aware of the violence, but I remember Amber talking about‘ big quarrels ’. She added that she advised her sister not to marry him because putting a ring on her finger would not stop him from hitting her.
On the other hand, the actor denied that he had ever been violent towards his ex-wife. During the trial, Whitney described Amber as one of her ‘best friends’, but she also revealed how they became estranged in 2015 over an argument about wedding pictures.
She said she lived for free in an apartment that was owned by the actor but they asked her to leave it after she was accused of being the one to sell wedding pictures to reporters. Then she said in court, 'I had an argument with both of them.'
Whitney denied that she was responsible for selling the photos, but that her sister at the time did not believe her. 'I was upset that she trusted him instead of me, and that was a period in 2015 when I distanced myself from them because of it.' Whitney finished.
