"Killers of the Flower Moon" is an epic crime drama and a dark, poetic adaptation of the book of the same name.
With a budget of $200 million, the latest potential masterpiece from the legendary Martin Scorsese is sure to be one of Hollywood's top projects for 2023. A well-known director and a good selection of actors guarantee us the pleasure of watching the film. This will be Martin's first project since 2019's "The Irishman". However, what concrete details do we have about this film?
Action
Members of the Osage tribe in northeastern Oklahoma were murdered under mysterious circumstances in the 1920s, sparking a major FBI investigation led by 29-year-old J. Edgar Hoover and former Texas Ranger Tom White. The script for the film is based on the book of the same name by the American journalist David Grann. The book was published in 2017. What is certain is that the script is full of mystery and dramatic details.
Actors
There is no surprise in the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the biggest names in this project since he has worked with Scorsese in five films so far. All of them were successful. In addition to the DiCaprio-Scorsese tandem, there is also the De Niro-Scorsese tandem, which has had excellent chemistry since the seventies.
In addition to the previous, the most recently awarded 'Oscar winner' Brendan Fraser is part of the cast along with names such as Jesse Plemons, John Lithgow, Lily Gladstone, Tantoo Cardinal, Cara Jade Myers, Janae Collins, Jillion Dion, as well as Jason Isbell.
The film lasts over two hundred minutes and is impressive in terms of the number of characters (many are introduced in the last third, when the film documents how justice is guaranteed), the different ways of its action and the sheer scope of the narrative. However, what is most important is the overwhelming nature of its portrayal of the prejudice and greed ingrained in so many people and systems of this country, as well as the bleak sense of outrage at the human sacrifices and not just those depicted in the film.
