An exciting trip for the whole family: "Migration"
Migratory birds are ready for migration in the new movie "Migration".
Universal made an unexpected move in June 2022 when it revealed the release date of "Migration" from a summer 2023 debut to a winter holiday release. Although this may seem like an unusual decision given the film's premise, it could be a smart move to capitalize on audiences' desire for summertime entertainment during the winter months.
The animated film "Migration" follows a family of ducks on their annual winter trip south, but their plans to get to the Bahamas are derailed when they get lost in New York. We have a family of ducks from New England embarking on the journey of a lifetime. Dad Mack is content with his peaceful life at the pond, but mom Pam wants her kids, teenager Dax and girl Gwen, to see the world. After a family of migrating ducks visit their pond and share exciting stories about their travels, Pam finally convinces Mack to go on a family trip.
So, on one side we have Papa Mack who is happy with the safety of the New England lakes, but on the other Mama Pam is restless. After some persuasion, Mack and Pam head south for the winter with their children, Dax and Gwen. Their goal is the tropical paradise of Jamaica, but their plans are disrupted when they encounter unexpected obstacles.
Recall, that a short teaser for "Migration" was posted on April 5, coinciding with the release of "The Super Mario" Bros Movie. While the teaser may not give us much information about the plot, it still managed to showcase Illumination's trademark quality of animation. The brief animation in the trailer looked sharp, and the jokes all seemed to hit the mark.
Benjamin Renner is in charge of directing the film, and the characters were lent their voices by Kumail Nanjiani, Elizabeth Banks, Caspar Jennings, Tresi Gazal, Awkwafina, Carol Kane, Keegan-Michael Key, David Mitchell and Danny DeVito.
The winter journey of our main characters will start at 22. December of this year when the film starts showing in cinemas.
