The famous British curator, Lady Julia Peyton-Jones, shocked the public when she first became a mother at the age of 64.

Five years have passed since then, but because of her new interview in Vogue magazine, she is once again the target of criticism.

A lot of people, even my closest friends, have reconsidered my decision and intentions to become a mother so late,” she recalled for Vogue, and it didn’t take long for the internet to start a discussion about her decision again.

"Becoming a mother in her sixties, isn't that the pinnacle of selfishness?", "She'll be 80 when her daughter turns 16," "She could die before her daughter's 25th birthday, so selfish," "Her daughter is just another project.", are some of the vicious comments on the famous British parent site Mumsnet. Yet there were those who stood in her defense, and the argument they were guided by was that no one objected to men who became fathers late.

The reason for Julia's interview in Vogue was the announcement of her latest project, in which she included her daughter.

"Every January for the last ten years, I choose a challenging project. One year I quit smoking, another year I drank alcohol, and once I gave up caffeine. In late 2019, I decided that my next task would be to make a visual diary of life with my daughter Pia," she said.

“Every night I make a list of everything we’ve done together in the last 24 hours,” she added. She also pointed out that she never regretted her decision to become a mother in her sixties and that her daughter was her greatest joy.

By the way, Julia has been running the Serpentine Gallery in London for 30 years and hangs out with the British elite, and she received the title of a lady from Queen Elizabeth.
