Bong Joon Ho’s "Mickey 17" release is delayed!
Warner Bros. postponed the release of the movie "Mickey 17" until further notice.
Warner Bros. has completely removed the film "Mickey 17" from its release schedule. In this movie, Robert Pattinson is an employee on an expedition that is sent to colonize a frozen planet but he refuses to let a replacement clone take his place.
It is an adaptation of Edward Ashton's bestseller "Mickey7", which many describe as a tense thriller similar to the novels "The Martian" and "Dark Matter". We could see what it will look like in December 2022, but since then other details have been kept secret. It is only known that Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo are acting alongside Pattinson. Below we have a trailer but with the old release date.
"Mickey 17" is a sci-fi thriller by Bong Joon-ho, but also his first feature film after "Parasite", the most profitable Korean film in history and the first foreign title who win the Oscar Statuette for best film. Bong won the Oscar for directing and for the screenplay with Han Jin-won, so many are eagerly awaiting the new project. The alleged reason for moving from the schedule is so that Bong can finish the project in peace, which was greatly affected by last year's strikes and changes in production.
The thriller "Mickey 17" is replaced with "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire".This means that the continuation of the tense saga of the Titans will arrive in theaters on March 29 this year, instead of April 12. The new movie from MonsterVerse stars Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, Kaylee Hottle, Alex Ferns, and Fala Chen .
Overall, it really is a good choice for "Mickey 17" to get a later release date. If they had kept their March 29 date, Bong Joon-ho likely would have been rushing to finish the film, and working on a tight deadline like that could easily lead to mistakes or bad choices. With more time, Bong Joon-ho has the opportunity to finish the movie with ease and make decisions that are right for his style and vision.
