Britney Spears' Dad: I was thinking of sending my daughter back to a mental institution

Britney Spears' father, 39, Jamie Spears, 69, revealed on Friday that he had recently discussed whether to relocate his daughter to a mental health facility, according to Page Six .

Jamie claims in documents filed with the Los Angeles County Supreme Court that he is not responsible for placing Britney in psychiatry in 2019, a move that spurred the #FreeBritney movement.

But he said he was called on July 9 by Jodi Montgomery, who is in charge of Britney’s personal and health affairs, asking him for help because of her ‘recent behavior’ and mental health.

Montgomery reportedly expressed concern that the pop star was not taking medication properly — and brought the possibility of ‘5150’ psychiatric detention, which under California law allows a person to remain on a psychiatric assessment if they are considered a danger to themselves or others.

Ms. Montgomery felt Britney was out of control,” Jamie Spears said in a court statement, adding that Montgomery later changed her mind and said the 5150 was not needed. Jamie claims he has had no control over Britney’s medical decisions since 2018, including her incarceration in a mental institution in 2019.

- I have not had control over my daughter's treatment since the end of 2018 when I had to retire due to my personal health problems - Jamie explained.

Instead, the decision was made by Montgomery, who was added to the Britney Conservatorship team because of Jamie’s health problems, and a lawyer who was once involved in the case, according to court records.

 - It was Jodi Montgomery, along with a former lawyer, Sam Ingham, who admitted Britney to the institution in early 2019, including but not limited to signing admission documents - the documents state.

Attorney Jodie Mongomery immediately denied the statement.

- Mrs. Montgomery worked exclusively under the guidance and control of Jamie Spears. She did not have the authority to place Britney Spears in any institution - only Jamie Spears had that power in March 2019 - the lawyer said, adding that Montegomery believes Jamie's custody has had the greatest impact on Britney's mental health.

Recall, Britney said in court a month ago that she wants her life back and the end of the 13-year custody that her father has over her. The court rejected her appeal.
