Brooke and Andre Agassi's special love story

Former tennis player Andre Agassi is celebrating his 52nd birthday today. One of the best tennis players in the world has been married for more than 20 years to tennis player Steffi Graf, with whom he has two children - a 20-year-old son Jaden Gil and an 18-year-old daughter Jaz Elle.

Many called these spouses a dream sports couple, and their love for tennis connected them on many more levels. The couple got married in late 2001 in Agassi's hometown of Las Vegas, and only two witnesses, their mothers, attended the wedding. They met in 1999 at Roland Garros.

'I don't know if you remember that, Dad, but when I was 29, you told me to marry Steffi. That was the best piece of advice you ever gave me. And that's why don't ever stop telling me to work ', he joked about his father years later Agassi in a speech he gave when he entered the Tennis Hall of Fame.

And while fate had not yet united them, Andre was in a turbulent relationship with one of the most beautiful women in the world - Brooke Shields. Although, many have commented that their marriage failed even before it began. They both knew they shouldn’t stand in front of the altar, and they said so in later interviews.

'I've been thinking about things that shouldn't be on anyone's head during a wedding - that at least I can run away, that at least I have a fake groom who can take my place. It was a period of my life when I didn’t want to be with anyone. The right moment is very important, for marriage you need two people who understand themselves, and I definitely didn't understand myself then ', said the tennis player once.

They married in 1997, divorced in 1999, and they were often separated because of their more than successful careers. 'All in all, the marriage just existed, but I had a feeling I shouldn't have. I easily ignored the fact that I had to face it. I wouldn't even say that it's a lack of love, but a lack of life, ' said the actress and model in an interview.

Over time, Shields noticed that the situation on the tennis court affected their relationship at home too much. ‘He alienated himself from me when he lost until he won the next game. That's when I started to experience the other side of the athlete's partner - the side that happens after a defeat, ' she said. In early April 1999, Agassi filed for divorce, and a month later he went to Roland Garros where his Steffi was also.
