Did Josh Douggar's try for a retrial fail?

Josh Duggar's attorneys declared their decision to appeal the ruling. This happened shortly after he was found guilty of receiving and possessing child pornography. Now, they are going for a retrial!

Last month, an attempt to get the conviction overturned without a retrial was inevitably unsuccessful. Josh's lawyers are now asking for a new trial. The ex-reality star's defence is now claiming that new evidence exonerates their client. But, they also claim it incriminates the true suspect. The prosecution finally answered to the defence's filing on Friday, after a protracted delay. Josh Duggar's attorneys declared their intention to appeal the ruling shortly after he was found guilty of receiving and possession of child pornography.

The prosecution finally responded to the defence filing on Friday. They claim that Williams subsequently called federal officials in an attempt to cover up his own crimes by blowing the whistle on Josh. The judge determined that there was insufficient evidence to support this claim and thus dismissed the defence's request. First, they denied calling Williams as a witness.

Josh's lawyers are now saying that they are entitled to a second opportunity in court so that they can fully investigate the Williams case. They are arguing that they want to thoroughly investigate the Williams connection. In their counter-filing, prosecutors said, that the concept that Caleb Williams committed these charges is sheer fiction.

They added that it is a story promoted by the defence for the sole purpose of throwing blame. Regardless of evidence to the contrary, he is trying to blame a sex offender. The prosecutors also told the court that the review of the record demonstrates the exact opposite. The Court allowed the defendant to summon Mr Williams.

He was allowed to develop this argument but limited the ability to introduce evidence of Mr Williams's prior sex offence. This was done in accordance with the Federal Rules of Evidence. Photos of Josh's office seized during an FBI raid, as we have reported, appear to cast doubt on the Williams argument in multiple ways.

First of all, access to the workstation required entering a code into a digital combination lock, making it impossible for anyone to enter or exit without Josh's knowledge.
