Do you struggle with oily hair?
The biggest paradox - the more you wash your hair, the faster it will get greasy. How to find a balance between tidiness and recovery of the scalp, read in our tips.
Oily hair is a problem that many women have and this is not connected with irregular hair washing. Hair gets too oily when our scalp "understands" its task a little too intensely - to ensure beautiful and shiny hair by producing sebum. And excess sebum creates difficulties for us, and that is the rapid greasing of the scalp and hair. Although at first, it seems that this problem is only aesthetic in nature, it can become a little more serious, because oily hair can cause itching, redness, and hair loss.
The reasons for increased sebum production are different and can change throughout life, from hormonal changes and stress, through improper care and poor diet, to too frequent hair washing. This is the biggest paradox because the more you wash your hair, the faster it will get greasy. Therefore, we bring you tips on how to find a balance between tidiness and recovery of the scalp.
Although greasy hair should be washed often, do not do it every day. Daily washing of the hair will remove the fat on the scalp, but if we do it every day, the scalp will "try" to make up for that loss, so it will get even fatter. It is therefore advisable to follow it every two to three days. As for the shampoo, ask your hairdresser or, if the situation is more serious, a dermatologist, and invest in a proven good shampoo for oily hair. The best ones, namely, remove excess sebum but do not dry out the hair.
Conditioners are not recommended for those who struggle with oily hair. However, if you still want or need to use it, be sure to apply it only on the tips of your hair, and avoid rubbing it into your scalp.
Be careful with the temperature
For both rinsing and hairstyling, do not reach for hot water or air. Oily hair should be rinsed with warm water because hot hair can encourage excessive sebum secretion. In addition, to make your hair oilier, it will also make it harder to comb. And hot air has a similar effect, if you use a hairdryer, do not use the warmest air. The best way is to let your hair dry naturally.
To make your hair dry as short as possible, there are a few tricks: use a cotton towel instead of a terry cloth. Allow your hair to air dry for at least part of the time, and before you pick up your hair dryer, make sure the towel has picked up excess water.
Oily hair care
As you probably know, the more additional preparations in the form of oil, gel, wax, foam for your hair will make hair greasy. Choose your products carefully if you want extra shine for your hair. Also, trim cracked ends regularly, because, in addition to being important for hair health, it is also good for its appearance.
Don’t overdo it with combing either, do it as much as is enough to make it look neat. When it comes to combing and styling, make sure you regularly clean brushes, combs and hair styling aids. As brushes serve to transfer natural oils from the scalp to the tips, it is logical that this grease stays on it as well.
Dry shampoo for quick degreasing of hair
Probably every person with prone to oiliness already has an at-home dry shampoo. Its application is a perfect trick to delay washing for one day, which again leads to the number one tip - to refrain from washing your hair too often.
