After only an hour of travel, they suddenly discovered there is a fault in the hydraulics, so the pilot had to return in a semicircle to the coast of southern Ireland, which was the closest place to land.
The pilot informed the air traffic control that he would make an emergency landing, but there were also difficulties since they failed to land at the airport twice due to the strong wind.
The ambulance crew and firefighters waited for Elton and his team at the airport, and Philip Thomson, who was on the scene, explained what this dramatic situation looked like.
“The plane was hit and could not land. It was descending, but the pilot gave up when he realized he was going to hit the runway, so he went straight into the air again. The wind rocked the plane from one side to the other. Only in the third attempt did the plane finally land on the runway. The pilot managed to straighten the plane and land more gently. After he managed to save the situation, we all felt relief” said a witness, foreign media reported.
Due to the drama in the air, the 74-year-old star, Sir Elton John was quite shaken and upset, but surprisingly, just a few hours later he boarded the next plane to the United States. He arrived just on time for his performance scheduled at Madison Square Garden, as part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour. The music star was so determined not to disappoint his fans.
