Jamie Oliver, the celebrity chef, has thrilled his followers after announcing a major milestone achievement on Monday.
The 46-year-old took to Instagram to announce that he had just surpassed 9 million Instagram followers, and he couldn't wait to share the news with his adoring fans.
"Morning people amazing I just got 9 million followers, I wanted to say thank you for your companionship," Jamie captioned a screenshot of the new statistic. It's never been about the number of followers for me; it's always been about having a nice place to share and publish gourmet ideas and opinions.
"Thank you for your enthusiasm and energy. You have always been a constructive and stimulating audience, and your comments and opinions have impacted much of what I make."
"One of the advantages Instagram has afforded me that makes me so happy is discovering and supporting extremely intelligent, fantastic individuals I come across on my feed and giving them with a platform to expand their following," he said. "I do it for joy, not profit, so there are times when I'm silent and others when I'm falling apart at the seams, but that's just how it is...
Anyway, a huge thank you to @kevin and @mikeyk, who developed Instagram and were responsible for my first photo being uploaded in San Francisco all those years ago!
