Kel Mitchell reveals why he was celibate!

Famous for starring in the sitcom 'Kenan and Kel' between 1996 and 2000, Kel Mitchell revealed that he opted for celibacy for three years.

The actor shared the report in a new interview with the website Page Six. He revealed that when he was 20 years old he had sex with many different women–which was later discouraged by his pastor. "You don't stay connected to God. And neither does your spouse," he pointed out.

"What you mix, spiritually, can really hurt you," continued the 43-year-old artist, before explaining the process he went through to "liberate," his sexual partners from his life. “What I had to do was, I literally mentioned all the women I was having sex with…I forgave them and I forgave myself for relationships and everything. After I said all their names, they were released. I released my name from them, released my spirit from them."

Kel claims that his pastor's guidance made him feel much better about being away from sex for three years. “It was a liberating experience,” he said. “Like I literally felt new. And that's when I decided to be celibate. It made me realize how many relationships were just based on sex.

In the interview with Page Six, however, Kel was keen to emphasize that being a celebrity has not spared him from going through difficult situations in the last two decades. “I was already broke. I was on television and I lost everything," he pointed out.

"When you're in the entertainment business, [producers] see whatever the last thing you were, and then when something else comes along, they blend those experiences together like that 15, 30 year period never had happened," pointed out the actor, who said he lost his car during a point in his career when his financial situation turned bad, making him question whether he should continue acting. "I literally had to crawl back to where I needed to be, but in those tough times, I found out a lot about myself."

During Nick Cannon's daytime talk show "Tuesday" Nick took time to express his gratitude to Kel for what he and his show "Kenan and Kel" did for his career. He praised them on helping him and his career become what they are today.
