The first trailer for the limited series "Gaslit" has been released

'Gaslit' is a story about the Watergate affair that you haven't heard of so far.

Julia Roberts and Sean Penn, star in a limited series of Starz productions called "Gaslit", in which the plot is focused on the Watergate affair, and the official trailer is posted on the Youtube channel.

It can be seen that thanks to great make-up artists, Pen does not look like himself at all. The description promises that "the series will bring a fresher look at the famous political scandal".

'Gaslit' is a story about the Watergate affair from a different angle that was never seen before. Julia Roberts' character, and her husband, lawyer John Mitchell (Penn) " announced from the Starz production that it will bring you at the centre of the story.

As they pointed out, the goal was to bring this story closer to the audience, giving it a version that focuses on the people involved in the affair, and not just on data and political information.

The Watergate affair encompasses several political scandals that took place during Richard Nixon's presidency in the United States. Nixon was impeached for obstruction of justice, abuse of power, and contempt of Congress which eventually led to his resignation.

As it turned out, Nixon was directly involved in espionage, intimidation and wiretapping of Democrats, and money of dubious origin was used for these activities.

We all know Julia and Pen’s potential and dedication to their characters from their previous work, so, this is one of the movies that will be waited for with a lot of anticipation. Of course, the Watergate scandal is still a topic in the public and we are sure that the new insights on it will also be very valuable.

This political thriller was based on the first season of the podcast Slow Burn by Leon Neyfakh.

The series was created by Robbie Pickering and except Julia and Pen, it will star  Dan Stevens, Betty Gilpin, Shea Whigham, Darby Camp and Aleksandar Filimonović. Gaslit was directed by Matt Ross,

who you probably know from his roles Gavin Belson in the HBO series Silicon Valley, Glenn Odekirk in The Aviator, and Luis Carruthers in American Psycho. You also might remember him from The Twelve Monkeys, where he played Bee, or as Captain Calhoun from Buffalo Soldiers. Matt wrote and directed  Captain Fantastic, starring Viggo Mortensen. He also made seven short films, including The Language of Love. He also wrote and directed Human Resources and. Captain Fantastic.

All the names in the cast of this series say a lot about the quality of the story. For sure this is something you should not miss!

The premiere of Gaslit is set for April 24, 2022. on Starz.
