The popular New Zealand singer just a few days before her new album came out released a music video in which she completely changed her look.
Singer Lorde, 24, real name Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O'Connor, enjoys experimenting in her music, but it rarely translates to her looks. That’s why the big change shocked her fans.
Her new album ‘Solar Power’ is available from August 20, and to announce the album Lorde has released several singles and accompanying music videos. The latest of these singles is ‘Mood Ring’ in which she shocked everyone with her platinum blonde hair color, deviating from her typical dark brown color.
- I went through a kind of transformation for this video, because the song is satirical - said the singer before the premiere of the single.
She explained that her great inspiration for this album was hippie culture and ‘great parallels between ours and that time, all the pseudo-spirituality and everything that goes with it was present even then’.
Lorde said she ‘played a character’ for the song ‘Mood Ring’.
- I wrote it from someone else's perspective, a girl with whom I share some thoughts, but who is not me. She is very cool - said the singer.
Lorde is thus another of the dark-haired pop singers in the series, next to Billie Eilish (19) and Selena Gomez (29), who decided to go blonde this year. But some of her fans claim that it seems to be a wig, not her real hair.
